AUS VS NZ ICC ODI World Cup 2023: This is what dreams are made of. Australia’s opening partnership was looking dodgy with Mitchell Marsh not being completely comfortable at that position.
Everyone was waiting for Travis Head to return so that some kind of firepower could return to the Aussies. And they were completely right to wait for him as he just demolished the well-feared Kiwi’s bowling attack.
He took charge from the first ball and it took him only 59 deliveries to reach his maiden World Cup ton. Keep in mind that this is his first match on the biggest stage as well. A perfect debut to put his team in charge.
Dream Debut
This was the first time that Travis Head was participating in a World Cup match. He had to opt out of the earlier games because of a head injury. Everyone was waiting for him to return to the Aussie camp as soon as possible.
And if you are coming after such a long time, this is the way to do so. Travis was on fire from the first ball. He smashed every ball he was facing as hard as he could. Matt Henry was the main prey of Head in his innings.
The left-handed batsman smashed 10 boundaries and 7 sixes to complete his century in just 59 deliveries. Glenn Phillips got his wicket in the end but by then he had already done the damage. Head departed after scoring 109 runs in just 67 deliveries.
Warner Missed Another Century
David Warner on the other hand was also on fire and was reciprocating Head brilliantly. He missed his chance to score back-to-back three centuries in the World Cup as Glenn Phillips got him as well on 81 runs. Warner was also very fast and played only 65 deliveries. We are in for a very intense chase in this AUS vs NZ ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match.
