AUS v SA

AUS vs SA: On Wednesday, January 4, the third and final Test of the series between the hosts Australia and South Africa began at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with Australia batting first in the series decider. The Pink Test had more controversy and discussion than any previous match in the series when Australia’s star batsman Marnus Labuschagne asked for a lighter to fix his helmet while he was at the wicket.

Marnus Labuschagne’s gesture gets viral

David Warner, the star of the previous match, was dismissed for just 10 runs in the fourth over, making Australia’s decision to bat first in the series decider a poor one. However, that was the only wonderful time for the visitors throughout the opening session as Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne consolidated for the home team following that early defeat.

When Marnus Labuschagne, their batting star and the top Test batter in the world, gestured for a cigarette lighter, the noisy spectators at the SCG were given a moment of wonder. The batter requested the lighter to patch the nylon clothes on the underside since the helmet’s flaw was making it difficult for him to see the ball.

As terrible lighting interrupted play on the opening day, Labuschagne continued to score his 14th half-century in red-ball cricket and is currently undefeated on 73. Even after he was caught at the slips and the umpires made a disputed call, the third umpire reversed the on-field ruling. Due to low sight at the location, tea was had early as Australia moved into the break with a commanding 138/1 score after losing Warner early in the innings.
