AUS vs SA: Pat Cummins pull off a Rahul Dravid ! Deprives star opener Usman Khawaja from double ton with declaration

AUS vs SA

AUS vs SA: Australian opener Usman Khawaja was unable to complete his first double century as the hosts decided to declare the innings as soon as the game began on Day 4 on Saturday, January 7. Khawaja had been unbeaten on 195 at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) for nearly two days due to rain, but he was unable to do so because the hosts decided to declare the innings as soon as play began.

Khawaja, being the person he is, may have been the first to urge captain Pat Cummins to declare the innings without continuing to bat, but even so, the left-hander will feel very unfortunate considering that he was only five runs away from recording his first double tonne.

A result seems unlikely with only five sessions left, and the fans believed Khawaja should have been given the chance to hit the five additional runs and accomplish his milestone considering a draw in Sydney is probably going to happen. When the time for play’s restart was announced, Cummins and team opted to defy tradition and sent South Africa to bat.

The fans said that Tendulkar would be aware of how the Australian opener must be feeling and that Khawaja had every right to be furious. Some of the responses are included below.

The current New Year’s Test has been significantly impacted by rain since, other than Day 2, no full day of cricket has been played. The first day was limited to 47 overs, and the third day was totally rained out. A soggy outfield caused a delay of over two hours on the fourth day as well, which meant that Australia in particular couldn’t spend much time given just 157 overs can be bowled in the last Test match assuming the rain doesn’t stop it again and they don’t have to send the Proteas out again.
