Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting predicted a Aussie domination in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The hype for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy is unreal. After India secured the last two BGTs in Australia’s backyard, the Aussies are eager to prove their mantel. On the other hand, the Indian team will be looking at payback after the World Test Championship loss.

Both teams will face each other in a five-match test series to prove something. And with the series being at last in the WTC calendar, maybe their place in the final will also be at stake.

The stakes are higher than ever with both teams putting everything online. It is going to be a brilliant series and will feature two of the strongest test sides in the world right now. It will be a must-watch series.

‘3-1 To Australia’

The Aussies have already started their mind games as former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting believes the tide will turn this time. The Blues defeated the Kangaroos in their last two outings to Australia.

Indian team was without half of their players last time and still triumphed the series. So, it was a shameful chapter in Australian cricket history. Looking back at the series, Ponting was hopeful for this time.

“It’s going to be a competitive series and as I said I think Australia’s got a bit of a point to prove against India in Australia on the back of what’s happened the last the last two series here.”

Border-Gavaskar Trophy: 5-Tests

Ponting was also delighted that the series is back to 5 tests now. “We are back to five Tests as well, which is the other really important thing about this series. It’s only been four Tests the last couple of times. Five tests, I think everyone’s excited by that and I don’t know if there’d be too many drawn games.

I’m going to tip Australia to win and I’m never going to tip against Australia. There will be a draw somewhere and there will be some bad weather somewhere, so I’m going to say 3-1 to Australia.”
