When India last visited Australia in 2018-19, they won the Test series in Australia for the first time. The Indian team, captained by Virat Kohli, had named the series 2–1.
Australia’s current Test captain Tim Paine was the captain of the team in that series. Penn became the captain of the home series for the first time.
Paine says that players who were involved in the series last time have now been motivated to improve their performance.
“I know that the players involved were in a lot of pain. I know that the return of Smith and Warner has given the team a lot of experienced players,” Paine told 2GB of Wide World of Sports Radio.
