Australian Open 2023: Novak Djokovic overpowered Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final showdown held at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, securing a triumphant victory with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5). This marks Djokovic’s 10th Australian Open championship win and 22nd Grand Slam title in total.

Djokovic joins Nadal with equal victories
Thanks to this win, Djokovic reclaims the top spot in the ATP rankings, and now boasts an impressive 28-match winning streak in the hard-court tournament. After being unable to participate in last year’s Australian Open due to his deportation from the country for failing to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, the 35-year-old tennis star has made a remarkable comeback.
The record that Djokovic previously had is increased with his tenth victory in Australia. He shares the record for the most major titles won by a player in tennis history with Rafael Nadal with 22 major victories, including seven from Wimbledon, three from the U.S. Open, and two from the French Open.
Tsitsipas lost to 0-2 in major finals. He was defeated by Djokovic in the 2021 French Open as well.
Djokovic looking to go ahead other legends
He has previously won the Australian Open’s grand slam prize and has also won the French Open twice and the U.S. Open three times.
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, two of Novak Djokovic’s fiercest competitors, have long eclipsed him. But now that he is at the top of the heap, Djokovic could have set a bar so high that the rest of tennis may only be able to dream of catching up to his list of most grand slam victories.
