Babar Azam annual salary 12 times less than Virat Kohli

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently released the central contract for the Indian men cricket team for the year 2023. Former India captain Virat Kohli remains in the A+ category. The annual payment to players in this category will be Rs 7 crore. Apart from Kohli, it also has captain Rohit Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. His annual salary will be 12 times more than Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Babar Azam has got a place in the category of players playing red and white ball in the 2022/23 central contract of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). His earning is 1.25 million Pakistani rupees every month. His earnings in a year will be 43 lakh 50 thousand Indian rupees. This is almost 12 times less than the BCCI’s A+ category players including Kohli.

The salary of players in the top category of PCB contracts is less than half of the annual salary of players contracted in BCCI’s C category like Sanju Samson and Arshdeep Singh. Apart from Babar, this category includes Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Imam-ul-Haq and Hasan Ali.

KL Rahul demoted to Grade B

The BCCI on Sunday released the players’ contracts, in which KL Rahul was demoted to Grade B, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was promoted to the A+ category. Players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ajinkya Rahane did not get a place. Sanju Samson and Arshdeep Singh are the new entrants. Hardik Pandya, R Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant and Akshar Patel are in Grade A category and will get around Rs 5 crore. The Elite A+ grade includes players who play in all three formats, while ‘A’ includes cricketers who play in two formats.
