Babar Azam: Ahead of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, Pakistan’s cricket captain Babar Azam was not interested in speaking on whether or not he would continue to serve as captain. In response to a reporter’s question about whether he should step down as Test captain, the Pakistan captain delivered a scathing reply.
The journalist asked Babar directly about the team’s poor performance under his leadership, citing the fact that during the 2021/23 World Test Championship cycle, the team failed to win a single home Test match.
Babar Azam responds with a furious one-liner
During the pre-match confernece, a journalist asked “You’re on your way to becoming one of the batting greats. But players like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Saeed Anwar, they were great batters but couldn’t be great captains. We couldn’t win a single Test in 8 attempts on home soil. Do you think you should leave the Test captaincy so that your target of becoming one of the greatest batters of the game becomes easier?”
Responding to which, Babar Azam said “We are playing white ball cricket right now, Tests are over. If you have any question on white-ball series, you ask that.”

Babar, however, was not amused by the question and it was clear from his expression that he was angry with the reporter. With a one-line statement, the Pakistani captain cut off the reporter and reminded him that the subject is the white-ball assignment and that the Test series is concluded.
It’s important to remember that the journalist in question was the one who, when he was denied the chance to ask a question during the Test series, Babar gave him a death glare, which quickly went viral on social media.
