Babar Azam has replaced Virat as the rank 1 in the ICC ODI batsman rankings. Virat Kohli was at the top spot for more than three and a half years reign.
Babar Azam has been consistent with his form in the recent past and he was also the second-highest run-getter in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa. The Pakistan batsman now a rating of 865 points, eclipsing Kohli’s 857 points.
Thus, the Indian captain is now at the second place. Virat Kohli has not scored a century for more than a year now any format of the game.
Babar Azam is the fourth Pakistani player to achieve the mark of rank one in the format. Before him, only Zaheer Abbas (1983-84), Javed Miandad (1988-89), and Mohammad Yousuf (2003) have achieved this mark.
The Pakistan captain made his ODI debut in 2015 and has scored 3808 runs at an average of 56.83 runs in 80 matches.
