Bangladesh vs India, 1st Test, Day 4: Bangladesh batters trouble India but Axar Patel keeps visitor in the game

Bangladesh vs India: In the chase of 513, the Bangladesh batter troubled Indian bowlers in the first session. Openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan added 124 runs for the first wicket. Zakir went on to score his maiden hundred on debut while Shanto scored 67.

Axar’s heroics bring India back

Sakib Al Hasan is still batting along side Mehidy Hasan Miraz as Bangladesh scored 272 runs for the loss six wickets. It was Umesh Yadav in the post-lunch session who managed to get the breakthrough as he induced a loose shot from Shanto. The hosts lost two more wickets before Tea with Yasir falling to Axar and Litton Das throwing his wicket away against Kuldeep. 

Axar Patel was the pick of the Indian bowlers with his three wickets while Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav picked one apiece.

Still a long road for Bangladesh

Bangladesh still need 241 runs to win the game on Day 5.

Earlier, India declared at 258/2 with Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill scoring hundreds. Gill scored his maiden Test hundred while Pujara smashed his first ton since January 2019.

India bundled Bangladesh at 150 with Kuldeep Yadav taking a five-wicket haul after scoring 404 in the first innings.
