BBL 2022: Hobart Hurricanes presented Melbourne Renegades with a fantastic opportunity to win their fourth straight game and move to the top of the points standings during the 14th game of the ongoing 12th season of the Big Bash League (BBL 2022) between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades in Hobart. However, this didn’t happen as HH won the match by 8 runs eventuallly. However, a catch in the first innings has become a much more attention seeking point.
Jake Fraser pulls off the unbelievable
The dismissal of all-rounder Shadab Khan was the high point of the first innings (14). Khan, who had already smashed a four and a six, was aiming for another six off MR pacer David Moody when Jake Fraser-McGurk once again made an appearance on the field. Even though the batter had perfect timing, a quick Fraser-McGurk moved from deep mid-wicket to his right and then leaped into the air to hurl the ball into the ground.
Fraser-McGurk effortlessly regained his footing and came back down to finish the catch. Another credit to Fraser-spectacular McGurk’s fielding is the fact that all the commentators called the shot a six after accounting for Khan’s timing. For the uninitiated, Fraser-McGurk had attracted attention after last year’s stunning dismissal of Jake Weatherald of the Brisbane Heat.
Hobert Hurricane won the match by 8 runs
Renegades had the chance to become the first team to win four games in the BBL 12. At the Bellerive Oval, Melbourne only needed to chase down a 123-run target to accomplish the same., but they failed. The fact that all-arounder James Neesham (28), who was just promoted as the opening hitter for the sixth time in his career, smashed a few fours and sixes each at a strike rate of 147.36 but no other batter had any significant impact on the game didn’t help HH.
