All India Senior Selection Committee had named a 20-man Indian squad for the mega ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand and the five-match Test series against England.
India’s squad: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohd. Shami, Md. Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul (subject to fitness clearance), Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper; subject to fitness clearance).
Standby players: Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla.
While KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha are on stand-by mode with Rahul’s recent appendicitis urgery and Saha positive for COVID-19.
Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Hanuma Vihari who were out of the England series due to injuries in Australia are back in the team setup for the mega tournament.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Prithvi Shaw are the top names who are still missing out of the Indian lineup.
Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar has been chosen for the mega battle after their splendid performance recently.
