BCCI declares increase in prize money for all domestic matches

Taking a big step, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Sunday (April 16, 2023) announced an increase in the prize money (prize money) of all domestic tournaments. According to the announcement, the winner of Ranji Trophy will now be given Rs 5 crore as prize from this session.

Although, earlier Ranji winners used to get only Rs 2 crore as prize, but according to the new structure, they will be given a whopping amount of Rs 5 crore. Not only this, the runner-up and semi-final loser will be awarded with an amount of Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.


The information related to the announcement was given by BCCI Secretary Jai Shah through a tweet. He wrote in this regard, “I am happy to announce the increase in prize money for all domestic tournaments of BCCI. We will continue our efforts to invest in domestic cricket, the backbone of Indian cricket. The Ranji winner will now get Rs 5 crore, while the winner of the senior women’s tournament will get Rs 50 lakh (earlier Rs 6 lakh).”

Not only this, the cash prize for the Irani Cup has also been doubled, with the winning team getting Rs 50 lakh instead of Rs 25 lakh and the runner-up getting Rs 25 lakh from now on. Interestingly, earlier the runner-up team did not get any cash prize.

Whereas, in Duleep Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, the winning team will get Rs 1 crore and the runner-up team will get Rs 50 lakh. The winners of Deodhar Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be given Rs 40 lakh and the losing team in the final will be given Rs 20 lakh.
