BCCI General secretary revealed that the board is looking for a new coach and even addressed the situation of Rahul Dravid.

BCCI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah made a huge announcement on Thursday regarding the future of the Indian cricket team and Rahul Dravid. The announcement tackled the question of the new Indian team head coach.

Rahul Dravid is the current head coach of Team India. His tenure will come to an end after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. And to tackle that problem, BCCI has opened up the invitations for the new head coach.

The Secretary revealed many things about the new head coach position and did not deny the possibility of a foreign coach. But what does it mean for Rahul Dravid? Jay Shah even answered that question.

BCCI Looking For A New Coach

According to Jay Shah, BCCI will release the advertisements/invitations for the position of head coach very soon. The board has already decided on the criteria and will select the head coach based on that.

He further revealed that if Rahul Dravid wants, he can re-apply for the position again. The initial tenure of the coach will be 3 years and he did not rule out the possibility of a foreign coach.

“Rahul Dravid’s tenure is till the World Cup, we will be inviting applications soon for the post of head coach and if Dravid wants to re-apply, he can do it. We have decided on the criteria. Thereafter we will invite applications for support staff in consultation with the Cricket Advisory Committee. The coach’s tenure will be of three years,” Shah stated.

Team Leaving For World Cup

Jay Shah also revealed the schedule of team players leaving for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He said that the team would leave in two batches. Those whose IPL teams don’t qualify for the play-offs will be leaving on May 24 and the rest will join them later after IPL 2024.
