Asia Cup 2023: Roger Binny, the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla crossed the Attari–Wagah border to embark on their journey to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. Their departure from Punjab’s Amritsar airport was accompanied by Rajeev Shukla addressing members of the media.

Both of them had received invitations as representatives of the BCCI to attend an official dinner in Lahore, which was organised to commemorate Pakistan’s role as the host of the tournament. It’s important to note that Pakistan is only hosting four out of the thirteen matches, primarily because the BCCI expressed hesitation to have their matches played in Pakistan.
As a result, Sri Lanka was enlisted as co-hosts, and the remaining matches are scheduled to take place in Pallekelle and Colombo. Speaking to media, Rajeev Shukla said, “This two-day visit is purely from the point of view of cricket, nothing political.” Meanwhile, President Roger Binny said, ” am looking forward to my visit since we’ve been to Colombo to see matches in Sri Lanka.”

The BCCI has faced significant criticism for its decision to select Sri Lanka as the host for the remaining matches, primarily because of concerns related to inclement weather conditions. The persistent rain resulted in the unfortunate cancellation of the high-profile encounter between India and Pakistan, leaving numerous fans disappointed.
