The men 2021 T20 World Cup is set to begin on October 17 in the United Arab Emirates. The 16-team tournament final is scheduled for November 14.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the start and end dates of T20 World Cup. While the remainder of the Indian Premier League which is postponed due to the COVID surge in India will also start from September 19.
The BCCI is yet to write to ICC officially about shifting the T20 World Cup to UAE. As per the current plan, the first round of the T20 World Cup will be split across two groups and played in the UAE and Oman.
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea are the eight-team that will play qualifiers ahead of the mega tournament.
Round 1 included 12 matches, will comprise eight teams from which four top teams from both the groups will qualify for the major Super 12s.
