Pakistani Cricketers: The Pakistan Cricket Board is preparing to offer a substantial hike in remuneration to its players. The existing contracts of the players have ended and with its conclusion, players had demanded a hike as their existing pay was less when compared to other cricketing stars in the world. Now, PCB has given them a raise of up to 4x.
During a recent interview, Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, disclosed the board’s plan to generously reward cricketers. He emphasized that the board acknowledges the essential role of cricketers in its functioning, prompting them to be generous in their financial support.
How much will Pakistani Cricketers earn now?
In a notable development, top cricketers from all three formats, including captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, have been offered an impressive monthly retainer ship fee of PKR 4.5 million each (Roughly 13.16 Lakh INR). This signifies a significant increase compared to the previous contract, where red-ball players received 1.1 million rupees per month (Roughly 3.21 lakh INR), and white-ball players were granted 0.95 million rupees.
Among the prominent players benefiting from this increase are Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan, and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. This remuneration would amount to approximately 1.5 crore rupees annually. In contrast, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) offers Rs 7 crore per year to their top players, including stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. While Pakistan is quadrupling its players’ salaries, it will still be substantially lower than what Indian players receive.

PCB communicating with the players
Despite the demand for revenue-sharing from ICC or PCB contracts not being accepted, the board is taking steps to ensure stability by proposing three-year contracts to players. Misbah-ul-Haq, the head of the Cricket Technical Committee, is actively communicating with the players regarding the contract and the amount.
