Wrestlers Protest
Vinesh Phogat emerged as a prominent figure in the wrestlers’ protest against the President of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The protest, initiated in January 2023, featured prominent wrestlers like Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik, who rallied against Brij Bhushan, urging for stringent actions against him. The wrestlers leveled grave allegations of sexual harassment and molestation against Brij Bhushan, advocating for his legal consequences.
Nonetheless, the protest has reached an impasse, as legal proceedings are concurrently underway in response to the wrestlers’ complaint against Brij Bhushan, a BJP MP from Kaisarganj. Simultaneously, the awaited fresh elections of the Wrestling Federation of India remain in abeyance due to a restraining order issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
