Big Setback for Pakistan! Cricket Boards Reject Asia Cup 2023 Hybrid Model, Read more details here

Asia Cup 2023

Asia Cup 2023: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly faced a setback as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have declined its proposed hybrid model for the 2023 Asia Cup. The PCB had suggested a hybrid format in which Pakistan would host the tournament, but matches against India would be held at a neutral venue. However, according to sources, this model has been rejected, potentially leading to Pakistan’s withdrawal from the tournament.

PCB’s hopes for hosting Asia Cup 2023 get jolted

The decision comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier announced that Team India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Despite the PCB’s efforts to propose a hybrid model and retain the hosting rights, their endeavours have proven unsuccessful. As per the reports, “It is just a formality now that the Asian Cricket Council executive board members meet virtually or a proper meeting is called later this month. But the PCB is now aware that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are not backing their hybrid model proposal for the Asia Cup.”

In light of recent developments, there is a possibility that Pakistan may withdraw from the 2023 World Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had previously stated that they would boycott the global tournament if India did not visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup. An official announcement regarding Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup and the fate of the Asia Cup is anticipated in the near future.
