MI vs LSG IPL 2023: Following his five-wicket effort against LSG in the IPL 2023 Eliminator on Wednesday, Akash Madhwal received praise from Jasprit Bumrah, Anil Kumble, and Virender Sehwag. Thanks to Cameron Green’s 41 and cameos from Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera, MI scored 182 in their 20 overs. The LSG had a rough start as they were chasing 183 to advance to Qualifier 2 and face GT. Madhwal took Prerak Mankad’s wicket.
Madhwal’s magic spell turns the tide
Soon after, Kyle Mayers was out, and Marcus Stoinis took on the bowlers to steady the innings. However, the loss of Krunal Pandya led to a collapse for LSG, with Madhwal being the main culprit. The 29-year-old took the wickets of Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran in quick succession to put MI firmly in control of the match. After returning, Madhwal took the wickets of Ravi Bishnoi and Mohsin Khan to conclude the game and finish with 5/5 in 3.3 overs.

Sehwag, Bumrah, and Kumble are just a few of the players who have contributed to the accolades for Madhwal. Madhwal joined the exclusive 5/5 club by tying Anil Kumble’s record for the most economical five-wicket haul.
