All the Indian players have been allowed to play in the All England Badminton Open Championship after the second corona test result of players has come negative. Earlier, India’s men’s single players HS Prannoy, Sameer Verma and Mixed Doubles Pranav Jerry Chopra were found positive for COVID-19 in the first round of testing.
“All have been allowed to play in the England Open and the England organizers will announce the draw soon,” Badminton Association of India (BAI) general secretary Ajay Kumar Singhania told IANS on Wednesday.
The players, whose corona result was positive, were given the opportunity to get tested again. Interestingly, their results were verbally communicated to the Indian team and Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap had tweeted that they haven’t received their COVID-19 report even after 30 hours of Test.
The World Badminton Federation (BWF) had issued a statement stating that the tournament was about to start at 9 am local time, but it would be delayed at two o’clock in the afternoon in view of the rising COVID-19 cases.
