BWF World Championship: A new king of badminton has arrived and his name is Prannoy Haseena Sunil Kumar. Prannoy defeated the world number 1 ranked Viktor Axelsen in a grueling contest to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Championships.
It was a brilliant match where Pranoy had to come back from behind after losing the first set. When everything was looking lost, Prannoy had to dig deep into his reserve to dig out the win.
Axelsen was in total control of the first set and was looking to finish the game dominantly. But it was Prannoy who came out on top after climbing to the top of the mountain in the form of Axelsen.
A Fitting Finale
The first set was all Axelsen as he finished the set with a lead of 8 points. The Indian badminton star was not able to get in the groove at all as the defending champion was in total control.
The second set was a much better outing for the Indian star as he came back strongly and won the set dominantly. The final scoreline of the second set was 15-21 and just showed how good was the comeback.
The final set was even more intense as both of the competitors were hell-bent on winning the match. Pranoy was not only battling the huge task that was Axelsen but also the hope of 1 billion people on his shoulder.
A Guaranteed Medal
The Indian star pulled through and never let the pressure consume him. As he was smashing the shuttle on the hardest corners of the match. The World No.1 had no idea how to tackle the energy and accuracy of Prannoy.
In the end, tenacity beat the experience, and a new king was crowned. He wears a black wristband and has fire in his eyes. He is ready to take over the world and we are excited to witness the history. This victory has also guaranteed a medal for Prannoy in the BWF World Championship.
