Canada Open: In a rather one-sided match, Lakshya Sen defeated Brazilian Ygor Coelho in straight sets to march into the quarterfinals of the Canada Open 2023. On the other hand, PV Sindhu also made her place in the quarter-finals as her opponent Natsuki Nidaira withdrew from the competition.
Meanwhile, the men’s doubles combine of Krishna Prasad Garaga & Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala and suffered a loss against the Indonesian team of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.
PV Sindhu Vs Natsuki Nidaira
The Japanese star Natsuki withdrew from the competition resulting in PV Sindhu qualifying for the next round. The quarterfinal will take place at 11:30 PM today. The eighth-seed Indian star began her campaign by defeating Talia Nig in straight sets.
PV Sindhu will face Chinese seed and Indonesia Masters Champion Gao Fang Jie. It will be an amazing match as Gao was an important part of China’s team in the Asia Mixed Team Championships this year.
Lakshya Sen Vs Ygor Coelho
Sen had to struggle a little bit in the first set. It was an easy win for the Commonwealth gold medalist after that. He defeated Ygor in straight sets of scorelines 21-15 and 21-11.
Sen will play against Belgium’s international Julien Carraggi in the quarter-finals. It will be an amazing match as both of these contenders are really good.
Men’s Double Result
In the men’s doubles match the team of Krishna and Vishnuvardhan were defeated by the Indonesian duo in straight sets. The match was never really competitive as Mohammad and Hendra were in control all the time.
The path of these players will get tough from here on out. But both of these players are more than capable of winning a tournament on their own as they themselves are waiting for an opportunity of this kind.
