Australia captain Pat Cummins was in form of his life-time when he started his captaincy stint against England in the first Ashes Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.
England were bowled out for just 147 runs in the first innings with all Australia pacers ending up with wickets.
Pat Cummins was the best bowler for Australia with his five-wicket haul in Ashes opener.
Earlier Mitchell Starc stuck on the first ball to kick off the mega-series at The Gabba.
“It’s been a good start, we just got the ball in the right areas – nice and full. It’s a pretty good wicket, will be a bit harder after lunch. Starc is pretty good, usually gets a wicket in the first over, we expect that from him now. (Key to dismiss Root) Just bowl good balls, he’s a good player,” said Josh Hazlewood who took two wickets on Day 1.
Australia will come out to bat as soon the play resumes on Day 1 after rain.
