Commonwealth Games 2022: India women’s lawn bowls team scripted history by winning its first ever Commonwealth Games gold medal. India beat South Africa 17-10 in the finals in Birmingham on Tuesday.
This is India’s first Commonwealth Games medal in the women’s fours format of the competition. The women’s fours team comprising Lovely Choubey (lead), Pinki (second), Nayanmoni Saikia (third) and Rupa Rani Tirkey (skip) were the ones who brought the gold home for the country at the mega event.

The girls have been in top form and lets not forget that scenes were not pretty in the semi-finals as they were losing 1-6 to New Zealand at moment but cameback into the contest taking a 7-6 lead later on.

Then they took a 10-7 lead against the Kiwis and it looked like the final is not so far for them. Then again, New Zealand took charge with 13-12 lead but India bounced back strongly to clinch the win.
