Commonwealth Games 2022: India’s Mirabai Chanu has scripted history by winning a gold medal in ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The ace weightlifter lifted a total of 201 kg in the game to give India their third medal on Day 2.
She’s now also a double Commonwealth Games gold medallist as Chanu also won a gold in 2018 at Goldcoast.
Ever since, she wrote her name in the golden books in Birmingham, everyone has been congratulating the star weightlifter.
“The exceptional @mirabai_chanu makes India proud once again! Every Indian is delighted that she’s won a Gold and set a new Commonwealth record at the Birmingham Games. Her success inspires several Indians, especially budding athletes, tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating Chanu.
“Impeccable display of strength & mental fortitude by the exceptional #MirabaiChanu to win India’s first gold at the CWG ‘22. You have made India proud and have given us all a reason to rejoice and celebrate,” tweeted BJP president JP Nadda.
