Gautam Gambhir is ready for his first stint as the new Indian coach as a young and revamped Indian team will take on Sri Lanka in a T20i series. After their World Cup triumph, the T20i World Champions will play their first T20i series with full strength.
It is a huge task for the new Indian coach as this series will be the testing ground for a changed Men In Blues after the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli.
Gambhir will lead India to the Champions Trophy in 2025, the World Test Championship in 2026, and the ODI World Cup in 2027. It will be a huge task for Gambhir and former Indian coach Rahul Dravid knows that very well.
That is why Dravid went out of his way to send a message to the new Indian coach which left Gambhir emotional.
‘Crack A Smile’
Dravid is one of the calmest players ever to grace the Blue colors. His calmness and poised nature led India through many adversities and clutch situations. That is why he gave Gambhir a golden suggestion that the new head coach might take with him for a long time.
“Hello, Gautam, and welcome to the most exciting job in our world as coach of the Indian cricket team. More than anything else, I will treasure the memories and friendships I made in my time with the squad. As you take over the role of India Coach, it is what I wish for you as well.
Dravid further praised Gamhir’s dedication to the game and his resilience. The Former Indian coach acknowledged the pressure that Gambhir will be under and gave him golden advice for that.
Dravid stated “From one Indian cricket coach to another, one last thing. In the most heated of times, exhale, take a step back, and even if it’s difficult for you, crack a smile. Whatever else happens, that will shock people. I wish you the very best, Gautam, and I’m sure you will take the Indian team to even greater heights.”
Gautam Gambhir Speechless
The message by Dravid left Gambhir speechless as it meant so much to him. Gambhir has idolised Dravid for a very long time so a message like this means the world to him. The 2011 World Cup winner stated Dravid as the most selfless player ever and told everyone how much he has learned from him.
