Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli shared his joy on social media after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday, July 4. The Prime Minister hosted the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team for breakfast at his residence upon their return from Barbados. The Indian team had stayed longer in the hurricane-hit Caribbean after their T20 World Cup victory on Saturday, June 29.
Virat Kohli Honoured Meeting PM Modi
Virat Kohli took to a social media platform to share pictures of the event, expressing his gratitude. “What a great honour meeting our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji today @narendramodi. Thank you, sir, for inviting us to the Prime Minister’s residence,” Kohli wrote. He also shared a photo of himself shaking hands with the Prime Minister during the breakfast session. PM Modi posed with the entire Indian contingent, with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid holding the trophy.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Celebration and Gratitude
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also posted images on social media, thanking PM Modi for his encouragement. During the breakfast session, Captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah shared their T20 World Cup experiences with the Prime Minister.
Heading to Mumbai for Celebrations
Team India is now on its way to Mumbai for a victory parade scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. IST and conclude at 7:00 p.m. The BCCI will host a prize distribution ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium after the parade. BCCI secretary Jay Shah will present prize money of Rs 125 crore to Rohit Sharma and his team, celebrating India’s 17-year wait for a second T20 World Cup title.
