Cricket Records: Not Chris Gayle or Rohit Sharma, but Don Bradman once scored century in 3 overs leaving everyone shocked

Cricket Records: In a 1931 contest between Blackheath and Lithgow, Sir Don Bradman allegedly scored 100 runs in just three overs. In the days when each over consisted of 8 deliveries, the 23-year-old Blackheath player finished his century in just 18 minutes while playing.

Don Bradman scored 30+ runs in three overs

Bradman quickly reached his century in the game, which was played in New South Wales’ Blue Mountains, after scoring 38 runs in the first over he faced. But the subsequent event was exceptional and had never been witnessed before.

When a local bowler named Bill Black entered the fray, Bradman was warned by Lithgow wicketkeeper Leo Waters that Black had recently dismissed an Australian Test batsman. Possibly enraged by Waters’ remarks, Bradman attacked Black and destroyed him for 33 runs in an over. 66424461 was the scorecard of that over

During the third over, he was again on strike in Horrie Baker’s subsequent over because he had made a single off the final ball of the previous over. By scoring 40 runs (64466464) against a helpless Baker who appeared to have no idea what hit him, Bradman outperformed Black’s over.

Wendell Bill, a seasoned first-class cricketer himself, gave Don the strike with a single off the first delivery when Black came back on to bowl the following over. The following two shots, which Bradman hit into the stands, left a large crowd in amazement.

He misplayed the following ball for a single, and Bill once more fulfilled his job by handing Bradman the strike right away. Bradman hit two fours and a six to end Black’s suffering. Black’s final stats showed 2-0-62-0 after his second over resulted in a score of 16611446.

Don Bradman’s one of the most blistering cricket records

Bradman’s bat contributed 100 of the 102 runs that were scored from the three overs as a whole. With 29 fours and 14 sixes in his innings, he was eventually removed for 256.

Given the record’s magnificence, one would assume that the cricketing community would be aware of it, but because there is no video to support this claim, many do not know about this record.
