Cricket Viral Video: In the 1989 intense showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, the cricketing great Abdul Qadir, renowned as one of the finest leg spinners in history, faced a formidable challenge from the emerging and talented Sachin Tendulkar. The official encounter between India and Pakistan had to be converted into a 20-over exhibition match due to unfavorable light conditions. In a time when Tendulkar was relatively unknown, he earned widespread praise for his fearless approach against one of the most esteemed bowlers, both in terms of his on-field skills and his reputation off the field.
Sachin Tendulkar stuns Pakistani bowler
A young Sachin Tendulkar left Abdul Qadir astounded as he struck three consecutive sixes off the veteran spinner in a single over. The over displayed an impressive sequence of ‘6, 0, 4, 6, 6, 6’, illustrating Qadir’s encounter with the 16-year-old Tendulkar at the time. The truncated 20-over match, designed as an exhibition, witnessed the budding cricketer dismantle the seasoned spinner’s deliveries, thereby elevating his reputation on the global stage. Tendulkar’s achievement of hitting four successive sixes in a single over bowled by Qadir during the 1989 encounter catapulted him to international stardom.
As per Qadir, Tendulkar’s exceptional talent and skill were the driving forces behind his ability to confidently dismantle one of the premier spinners, achieving a hat-trick of sixes with apparent ease. However, Sachin later revealed about the incident. Tendulkar said, “Bachchon ko kyon mar rahe ho? Hamein bhi maar dikhao” (“Why are you only hitting the kid? Hit me too.”) Qadir was a great bowler and I was only playing my first series. I didn’t say anything, but it fired me up. I took up the challenge and gave it a go. Ultimately we fell short only by four runs.”

In pursuit of Pakistan’s total of 157 runs, Tendulkar’s impressive display of six-hitting prowess significantly propelled India closer to the target, with the 16-year-old amassing a swift 53 runs from just 18 balls. This remarkable performance paved the way for Tendulkar to eventually claim the title of the highest run-scorer against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 50-over format. The Master Blaster went on to deliver numerous commanding innings against the fierce Pakistan side in both Test and One Day International (ODI) formats, leaving a significant mark.
