Cricket Viral Video: In 1997, a 19-year-old Ben Hollioake made his ODI debut for England against a strong Australian team. Playing in the second match of the series at Lord’s, Hollioake displayed his talent with a wonderful knock of 63 runs off 48 balls against Glenn McGrath.
Batter stuns everyone with his skills
England had already won the series, and Hollioake was given his ODI cap as a reward for his impressive performance. In this match between Australia and England, Mike Atherton put Australia in to bat first and they were bowled out for 269, with Mark Waugh being the only player to score more than 30 runs. England’s Darren Gough took 5-44 in the innings.
Hollioake wasted no time going after Australian bowler Glenn McGrath. He hit a straight drive past the bowler and followed it up with a delightful on-drive. He played McGrath with ease, blasting one through cover and flicking another. He even left the crease to loft McGrath over extra-cover and pulled him when he bounced. He continued his impressive display by on-driving Shane Warne against the turn, paddle-sweeping him, and flicking Jason Gillespie for four to reach his fifty.
Hollioake eventually scored a remarkable 63 runs off just 48 balls, including 11 fours and a six. The other end only added 28 runs, including extras. He hit Gillespie to backward point before being dismissed, but his impressive innings was a highlight of the match.
