Cricket Viral Video: In a highly uncommon instance, a cricket team found themselves in a situation where they required five runs on the final ball of the match to secure victory. Remarkably, they successfully achieved those runs without hitting the ball beyond the boundary.
Amusing incident goes viral
During the last over of a domestic match, the bowler executed a well-delivered ball that ended up in the hands of a fielder positioned at mid-off. Under normal circumstances, this play would have resulted in one, possibly two runs as the fielder could have thrown the ball back to either the wicketkeeper or the bowler. However, defying expectations, the fielder chose to sprint towards the wickets at the non-striker’s end and struck them, resulting in the necessary runs being obtained.
Nevertheless, the batsman had already safely reached their position within the crease, prompting the fielder to swiftly head towards the opposite side in an attempt to execute a run-out. Unfortunately, this endeavour proved fruitless as the fielder completely missed the stumps, causing the ball to continue its trajectory away from the wickets. This misstep provided an opportunity for the batsman to secure an additional two runs, ultimately accumulating a total of five runs and securing victory for their team.
Instances of five runs being awarded without hitting a boundary have occurred prior to this match. Recently, there have been two notable occurrences where five runs were granted in such circumstances. The first incident took place during a match between India and South Africa, while the second incident unfolded during a match between the Netherlands and Afghanistan.
