Cricket Viral Video: From 2003 to late 2004, Aakash Chopra played cricket for the Indian national team, but his international career was brief, comprising only 10 matches. During one of those matches against Australia, he fielded at the off-side and caught Justin Langer, although this did not lead to Langer’s dismissal but a hilarious moment.
Aakash Chopra’s stunning catch but in vain
In the 2003-04 Border Gavaskar Trophy series Test opener between India and Australia, Aakash Chopra surprised the cricket community by executing a remarkable catch at slip. Catching a ball at slip is a challenging task that requires immense concentration from the fielder. The ball can come towards the fielder at any moment, and it is crucial for the fielder to react quickly, within a fraction of a second.
If the fielder reacts even a moment too late, it can be impossible to make the catch. In the match against Australia, Justin Langer tried to hit his renowned pull shot off a delivery from Ashish Nehra. At that moment, Aakash Chopra was positioned as a close-in fielder and caught the ball securely in his hands. However, to Chopra’s dismay, the on-field umpire declared a no-ball, indicating that the catch didn’t count. Chopra was taken aback when he learned that the spectacular catch he had taken was nullified due to the no-ball.
