Cricket Viral Video: Anil Kumble, former Indian captain and leg bowler, is known for his remarkable performance throughout his career as a bowler and holds the record for the most test wickets for India. However, he surprised everyone by achieving a century and leading his team to victory against England in a memorable game. This exceptional moment occurred during a match at The Oval in August 2007, where Kumble scored his only century for his country. As a result of his historic innings, India emerged triumphant in the three-match Test series against England, winning 1-0.
Anil Kumble’s historic knock
Following a disappointing World Cup campaign where the Indian team failed to progress beyond the Super 8 stage, Anil Kumble decided to retire from one-day international (ODI) cricket on March 30. However, on August 10 of the same year, Kumble achieved a significant milestone by scoring an unbeaten 110 runs against England at the Oval, marking his first century in Test cricket. This remarkable innings helped India reach a total of 664 runs in that particular match.
By achieving this century, Kumble surpassed Chaminda Vaas, who previously held the record for the most matches required to score a century in Test cricket with 96 Tests. Kumble, on the other hand, needed 118 Tests to register his first Test century, establishing a new record. Notably, his century was the only one scored by an Indian player during the three-Test series against England, contributing to India’s triumph in the series.
