Cricket Viral Video: South Australia endured one of the most remarkable cricketing climaxes in history during the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) 2022/23 final, losing five wickets in the final over as Tasmania snatched an improbable one-run victory.
The most absurd final over ever
The premier women’s 50-over competition in Australia witnessed a fitting finish as former Australian international Sarah Coyte defended four runs to win in sensational style. Coyte, who had not played an international match since March 2016, began by dismissing Annie O’Neil for 28, sending South Australia’s nerves into overdrive.
The next ball saw Amanda-Jade Wellington taking a single, but captain Jenna Barsby was sent back by Barsby after a direct hit ricocheted away from the stumps, hoping to finish the chase herself. However, Barsby was stumped by Emma Mannix-Geeves, leaving the tailenders with the task of completing the run chase.
The following wicket considered more of luck. Ella Wilson probably believed she had sealed the game when she hit a straight drive, but Coyte deflected the ball onto the stumps with Amanda-Jade Wellington caught out of her crease.

Wilson has then dismissed LBW, and suddenly South Australia required three runs off one ball. However, they were only able to score one run as Anesu Mushangwe hit the ball to Elyse Villani, who collected the ball and ran to the stumps herself to prevent any more twists in the game. Consequently, Mushangwe was run out, resulting in Tasmania’s one-run victory.
It was fitting that Elyse Villani delivered the final blow, as she played a vital role in helping Tasmania post a formidable total of 264 by scoring a magnificent 110 off 126 balls. Nevertheless, it was Sarah Coyte who was awarded the Player of the Match for her incredible final-over heroics. It was a major batting collapse and surely unbelievable stuff.
