Cricket Viral Video: In attempts to psych out opposing batsmen, bowlers often resort to taunts and sledging. Accomplished batters counter this by letting their bat respond. During the 1994 Caribbean tour, Andrew Caddick targeted Brian Lara, injuring his hands. This time, he chose Sachin Tendulkar as his opponent. In the 2003 World Cup, India and England followed divergent routes. India had a shaky beginning against the Netherlands and faced a heavy defeat against Australia before making a comeback. While England enjoyed three consecutive wins, their defeat against Zimbabwe left them uneasy.
Bowler provokes Sachin Tendulkar
After Tendulkar’s remarkable century against Namibia, Caddick decided to needlessly provoke India’s top batsmen. He said, “India should not take pride in scoring 300-plus against Namibia. They were aided more by the nimble-fingered Namibians than their batting strength. Even Sachin did not play well despite his century. Sachin’s just like another batsman in the Indian team, and there are a lot of others in the Indian side.”
As Caddick’s comments echoed arounf, Indian openers Virender Sehwag and Tendulkar stepped onto the pitch. On the second ball from Caddick, Tendulkar made his intentions clear by hitting a boundary. The opening duo aggressively scored against the English pacers, with the eighth over being particularly remarkable. Tendulkar dispatched the first ball for a four through the leg side. He then elegantly lofted the subsequent short and wide ball over the midwicket for six. This iconic shot, celebrated as the tournament’s best, is still cherished today. Tendulkar responded back to the bowler by saying “Now, that’s gonna take time to find the ball.”

Tendulkar was eventually caught at point by Andrew Flintoff, departing with a score of 50 off 52 balls. In a mere 19 balls, Caddick bore the brunt of 36 runs, including 6 fours and 1 six. Caddick managed to take all three of his wickets in the final over, concluding his spell with figures of 69/3 in ten overs. Ashish Nehra also delivered an outstanding performance, capturing 6/23, which played a significant role in India’s total of 250/9 proving to be sufficient.
