Cricket Viral Video: Cricket, a sport that provides entertainment and leisure, can also be dangerous. The need for extensive equipment, such as pads, guards, gloves, and helmets, highlights its elite status. Despite these precautions, batters face potential risks, including fatal incidents. One such incident took place in 2008 when newbie James Anderson’s pace gave a severe injury to the batsman.
James Anderson leaves a serious mark on batsman
During a test match at Old Trafford in 2008, James Anderson was involved in an incident where he unintentionally caused New Zealand batter Daniel Flynn to suffer a broken tooth. Flynn, who was playing only his second test match, entered the crease as the number six batsman during the first innings.
During an impressive spell, James Anderson dismissed Jamie How and continued to bowl with speed and aggression. It was on the 13th delivery faced by Daniel Flynn when he encountered a severe blow to his face from a James Anderson bouncer. The ball struck Flynn’s mouth after penetrating through the helmet’s grille.
As a result of the impact, Flynn promptly sat on the ground, and one camera angle captured the distressing sight of his bloodied mouth. The players and physiotherapists swiftly rushed to his aid. When Flynn rose to his feet, it became apparent that he had lost his front tooth on the left side and also sustained a crack in one of his lower teeth.

Following the incident, Flynn was promptly taken to the hospital for medical assessment. A neurosurgeon conducted scans, concluding that there were no indications of a concussion. Fortunately, Flynn had only suffered tooth loss without any additional bodily injuries. After the lunch session, Flynn expressed his readiness to resume batting. However, he experienced a recurrence of vomiting and was subsequently taken back to the hospital. Throughout the night, Flynn continued to endure bouts of vomiting and persistent feelings of nausea.
