Cricket Viral Video: When he faced Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan in the nets, former West Indies captain and widely considered as one of the best hitters to ever play the game Brian Lara rewound the hands of time. With the enthusiastic crowd’s excitement to see the 53-year-old take up a cricket bat once more, Lara went on to play Rashid in front of them.
Epic faceoff between Rashid and Lara
Lara served as a commentator for the Test series between Australia and the West Indies in December 2022 while Rashid was in the country preparing for the BBL. The two athletes, who were over three decades apart in age, faced off in Adelaide. The two initially engaged in a “Test” type game, setting up fictitious field placements and settings with Mark Howard serving as the umpire and commentator. Rashid was bowling a bit short, according to the ever-competitive Lara, giving him time to get to his back foot.
Howard changed the situation to 12 runs needed off of one over after Lara batted about with the opening few balls. Rashid first appeared to be winning the fight as he used his ferocious, quick-in-the-air variants to keep Lara bound. After gauging the length and playing the ball late and fine, Lara then unleashed a devastating square cut off the third ball.

He skillfully blasted a delivery off his pads behind square with the subsequent ball. Lara insisted that it would have gone for four despite Howard’s assessment that it was only a single. Rashid put down a blistering length ball to reduce the equation to five off the penultimate one with six required off two. Rashid sent it short, where Lara pounded ball over what would be deep midwicket while keeping his position as onlookers cheered the shot. The match ended in a tie , according to Howard, who called it a four.
