Cricket Viral Video: Back in 1996, Afridi accomplished a truly exceptional feat in his cricket career, achieving the fastest-ever recorded ODI century. In his second One Day International match against Sri Lanka, the versatile Pakistani cricketer astonishingly reached a century in just 37 deliveries. This remarkable record remained unbroken for over 17 years, showing Afridi’s incredible achievement.

Shahid Afridi’s Epic Century

In 2014, Corey Anderson etched his name in cricket history by crafting a century in a mere 36 balls, breaking the previous record. Presently, the record for the fastest ODI century is held by South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who achieved a stunning 100 runs in just 31 balls during an ODI match against the West Indies in 2015.

Shahid Afridi’s unforgettable performance unfolded during the KCA Centenary Tournament league match on October 4, 1996, when Pakistan was facing off against Sri Lanka. Pakistan began their innings and suffered an early setback with the dismissal of Saleem Elahi, leaving them with only 60 runs on the board. However, what followed was nothing short of a ruthless dismantling of the Sri Lankan bowling attack.

Afridi, batting at number three, delivered an exceptional innings, amassing 102 runs from a mere 40 deliveries. Throughout his remarkable performance, he smashed six boundaries and an astonishing 11 sixes, resulting in an impressive strike rate of 255. The only player who managed to somewhat contain Afridi’s heroics was KSC de Silva.
