Batter collapses on field
In the India vs New Zealand test match, the Kiwis seemed to be cruising with a comfortable score of 232 for 1 in their first innings. However, the relaxed atmosphere in the visitors’ dressing room was interrupted when their opening batsman Mark Richardson faced Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble with an attacking field set. Little did anyone know that what followed would be a hilarious moment, as Richardson suffered a cramp and writhed on the ground in a comical manner.
Anil Kumble bowled one of his deliveries, which was swept by the Kiwi’s opening batsman Mark Richardson. Suddenly, there were two sounds – one of the ball hitting the bat and the other a loud cry. As the frame returned from the fielder to the pitch, it became evident that Richardson had actually fallen.
While attempting a sweep shot off Anil Kumble’s delivery, Mark Richardson’s back leg cramped up, causing him to cry out in pain. Replays reveal that as he tried to shift his weight onto his right leg, he lost his balance and fell to the ground.
