He might be the most intense character on the field, but off the field, he is a completely different beast. According to his former teammate Dinesh Kartik, Gambhir might be the laziest athlete in the world.

A video has been making rounds on the internet which features RP Singh, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Dinesh Kartik, Ajit Agarkar, and Gautam Gambhir telling their past stories and having a good time.

In the roundtable, Dinesh Kartik told a story of himself and Gambhir when both of them were playing for India A. DK stated that Gambhir might be the laziest athlete he has ever seen and he narrated a story to prove that statement.

The retired Wicket Keeper told everyone that during one tour for India A, Gambhir was lying on the bed in his hotel room while he was roaming in the corridor. Gambhir called DK from outside the room.

As DK entered the room, Gambhir innocently asked him to change the channel by remote because he did not wanted to get up from the bed. Every member on the call started laughing uncontrollably, including Gambhir who was having a good time himself.

It looks like the KKR mentor will soon be announced as the Indian team coach post-ICC T20 World Cup 2024. There were several reports on the internet regarding this, but no statement was made from Gambhir’s side. The former Indian team player finally broke his silence regarding the job and stated that he would love the opportunity.

“I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honor than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well,” said the 42-year-old at an event in Abu Dhabi.
