The hilarious dismissal of Inzamam

Back in 2006, Pakistan’s cricket team, led by Inzamam-ul-Haq, toured England for a Test series. England had already won the first two matches of the series. The third Test took place in Leeds, where Pakistan started off well in their reply to England’s first innings score of 515. Yunus Khan and Mohammad Yusuf each scored a century for the visiting team.

When Inzamam-ul-Haq came to bat, he made a quick start by hitting five boundaries right away. England’s bowler Monty Panesar then came to bowl, with Inzamam-ul-Haq on strike. The Pakistan skipper attempted a sweep shot off one of Panesar’s deliveries but missed it significantly. While attempting to play the shot he lost his balance and fell onto the stumps. As a result, the umpire declared him out for “hit wicket.” Despite attempting to dive in the air to avoid falling onto the stumps, Inzamam-ul-Haq was unable to prevent the dismissal.
