Cricket Viral Video: Insult to sportsmanship? Watch India and Bangladesh players engage in ugly brawl, netizens say ‘disgraceful’

Cricket Viral Video: An ugly incident occurred following Bangladesh’s historic victory over India in the 2020 U19 World Cup finals, showing how even cricket, a gentleman’s game, can occasionally turn ugly.

At the Senwes Park, there was a fight between a few players from the Bangladesh and India sides just moments after the Bangladesh Tigers won their first U-19 World Cup championship.

Immediately after the game, it turned tense as Bangladeshi players rushed to the ground, the majority of them still exhibiting angry body language. In fact, one Indian player pushed a Bangladeshi player who was accused of using a racial slur toward him, and India’s coach Paras Mhambrey had to intervene to calm his players down.

The brawl in U-19 World Cup summit match in Potchefstroom, South Africa, resulted in two Indian players — Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi — and three Bangladeshi players being charged by the ICC.

After the match, Indian skipper Garg said “We were easy. We think it’s part and parcel of the game – you win some and you lose some. But their reaction was dirty. I think it shouldn’t have happened. But it’s okay.”

Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali said “What happened, it should not [have] happened. I don’t know what exactly happened. I didn’t ask what was going on. But, you know, in the final, emotion can come out, and sometimes the boys were getting pumped, and emotions were coming through.”
