In the past, a tournament by the name of Champions League T20 provided a stage where victorious teams from diverse T20 leagues worldwide converged in a singular competition.

Regrettably, the tournament had to be discontinued due to diminished enthusiasm among fans for matches not involving Indian teams. During the Champions League T20, Chennai Super Kings seized the opportunity to play a series of encounters in Ranchi, where MS Dhoni treated the local spectators with a breathtaking exhibition of his skills, notably in a remarkable performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
After a spectacular debut in the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured their place in the Champions League T20. However, their bowling attack faced a formidable challenge against the might of Thala MS Dhoni in a match against Chennai Super Kings. This particular clash unfolded during the CLT20 2013, taking place on September 26th, at the JSCA Stadium.

MS Dhoni goes berserk
In the initial stages, Chennai Super Kings had a sluggish start, standing at 115/3 when MS Dhoni took to the crease in the 15th over. Yet, Dhoni’s performance that evening in Ranchi was nothing short of extraordinary. He unleashed his prowess, launching eight sixes and a four in a mere 19-ball inning that culminated in a score of 63 runs.
The bowler who faced the brunt of Dhoni’s onslaught was Thisara Perera, the Sri Lankan all-rounder. His figures at the end of the innings were a stark 0/60 in 3 overs, as Dhoni relentlessly sailed his deliveries past the boundary line.
In the end, Chennai concluded their batting inning with a robust 202/4 on the scoreboard. Despite Daren Sammy’s commendable half-century for Hyderabad, Chennai clinched victory by a margin of 12 runs, cementing their dominance in the match.
