However, when it came to his batting, he faced a challenging situation. In Warwickshire’s first innings against Surrey, he was dismissed lbw for a golden duck as the team was bundled out for a mere 150 runs. In the second innings, Warwickshire found themselves in a dire situation with a score of 69-7 when he arrived at the crease.
As a short delivery from Jordan Clark approached, he instinctively ducked in an attempt to evade the ball. However, in an unusual turn of events, his bat remained upright like a periscope just outside his off stump. Surprisingly, the ball made contact with the blade, leaving Hassan seemingly unaware of its whereabouts. Momentarily confused, he stood up and looked around until he finally spotted the ball running towards the leg side.
Fortunately, Ed Barnard, his batting partner at the non-striker’s end, quickly reacted and called for a single. Barnard was already halfway down the pitch when Hassan finally realized where the ball had gone. Realizing the potential danger of being run out, Hassan’s expression turned startled as he sprinted down the pitch to complete the run, narrowly avoiding a mishap.
