Cricket Viral Video: There is a saying that your age does not make you old rather, your attitude toward life does. And you can never be too old to play cricket. And Alex Steele is the perfect example of that.

Today, look at the 83-year-old cricketer who plays with an oxygen cylinder on his back. Because as we just mentioned, you can never be too old to play cricket. Alex Steele is a former Scotland International.

He made his debut in 1967 for Lancashire and has regularly played cricket. You can’t ask for a better love story than this now, can you? It can be said that the oxygen cylinder he carries around his back is not real; cricket is his real oxygen.

A Terminal Illness

Alex was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal respiratory disease. He was also told that he might have only one year left to live, but that did not stop Alex from padding up and playing cricket.

Alex’s disease affects his lungs, which become stiffer and smaller as time passes. It also results in low oxygen levels in the body. The scars keep on increasing in the body and can result in respiratory failure.

In Steele’s words, “One of the most important things is your own attitude to the illness. I know of people who give up the ghost and feel sorry for themselves when something ill happens to them. I haven’t felt that myself.”

Cricket Viral Video: A Brilliant Career

Steele has been playing since 1967. He was a regular team member, scoring 621 runs in Scottish first-class cricket at an average of 24.84. He has also scored two International half centuries, both coming against Ireland.
