Cricket Viral Video: Scotland was mighty impressive in their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 opener against defending champion England. In a rain-hit match they not only thrashed English bowlers all around the park, they completely dominated them.
They could have even won the match considering the bad record England has during chases in this tournament. Another shocking factor is that England still has not won a match against a European country in this tournament.
Scotland scored 90 runs in a match reduced to 10 overs. England was given the target of 109 runs after the DLS method. To score 109 runs in 10 overs is a commendable task in Carribean pitches. We could have seen the first giant killing of the tournament but it did not happen.
Cricket Viral Video: Out Of The Park
The best moment of this short match came in the sixth over of the match when Micheal Jones took Chris Jordan apart. In the last over of the powerplay, Scotland’s opener decided to increase the run rate of his team.
His eyes lit up when Jordan bowled a body line short ball to him. Jones took a brutal swing and struck the dead center and the ball traveled miles before landing on the roof of the ground.
The shot was so forceful that it broke one of the solar panels installed on the roof of the ground. It is one of the best moments of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and will remain like that till the end of the tournament.
Underwhelming Tournament
So far, the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been an underwhelming tournament. With the sub-par pitches, mediocre facilities, and no hype around the cup, it might backfire to host a World Cup in the USA.
The aim was to promote the World Cup in the USA so that the game could get more popular. But with the current situation, it looks like cricket will need a revival in the cricket-playing nations as well.
