Cricket Viral Video: Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, renowned for his exceptional batting prowess, earned the nickname “The Wall” due to his formidable skills, particularly in test cricket. However, he was not to be underestimated as a bowler either. Dravid’s bowling abilities were showcased in an ODI match against South Africa in 2001 at Kochi, India. This match marked the opening encounter of a five-game ODI series. Following a 2-0 defeat in a two-match Test series against South Africa on their home ground, India was determined to emerge victorious in the limited-overs series. Notably, this series also marked Saurav Ganguly’s second stint as captain in ODIs.
Rahul Dravid wreaks havoc with ball
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, South Africa set the tone for the match. Notably, both of South Africa’s openers managed to score centuries, contributing to an impressive first-wicket partnership that yielded a substantial 235 runs. In a strategic move by the newly appointed captain Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, known for his right-arm off-break bowling, was introduced into the attack during the middle overs. Dravid, rising to the occasion, impressed his captain by claiming two crucial wickets in a single over, proving his worth as a bowler.
During the 43rd over of the match, the batting duo of Gary Kirsten and Jacques Kallis occupied the crease. At the 42.2-over mark, Dravid successfully dismissed Gary Kirsten, who had already reached a century and posed a significant threat. Kirsten, a left-handed opener, was caught by Ajay Jadeja at the point position, having scored 115 runs. Notably, in the last delivery of that same over, Dravid secured his next wicket by sending Lance Klusener back to the pavilion. Klusener faced four deliveries and was caught and bowled out by Dravid, resulting in a single run. Both of these pivotal dismissals occurred when the team’s scoreboard displayed a total of 249 runs.
