Cricket Viral Video: Robin Uthappa’s international cricket career may have been inconsistent, but he has certainly had some unforgettable moments while representing the Indian team. One of these moments occurred during the 2008 Commonwealth Series when India faced off against Australia at Sydney.
Robin Uthappa smashes big sixes
Uthappa came in to bat with India requiring 169 runs to win in less than 20 overs, with only five wickets remaining. It was a daunting task, but Uthappa played one of his finest One Day International innings during the chase. During his knock, he hit many spell-bounding sixes to one of the most dangerous bowler of that time, Brett Lee.
During his knock of 51 off 46 balls, Uthappa played a shot that still resonates with cricket fans to this day. On the previous delivery, Australian fast bowler Brett Lee had overstepped, giving Uthappa a free-hit. Uthappa took a couple of steps down the pitch, made some room for himself, and Lee bowled a short delivery. However, the Indian batsman adjusted beautifully, pulling the Australian pacer straight down the ground for a massive six that had the crowd on their feet.

Despite Uthappa’s valiant efforts, India ultimately fell short and lost the match by 18 runs. Nevertheless, they had the last laugh by defeating Australia 2-0 in the tournament finals, which also featured Sri Lanka. Uthappa’s knock showed his ability to perform under pressure and solidified his position as a valuable member of the Indian cricket team.
