Cricket Viral Video: Ruturaj Gaikwad has been having an unlucky year so far. Firstly, he had to face a heartbreaking exit from IPL 2024 even after scoring more than 60 percent runs for Chennai Super Kings.
And now he was part of one of the strangest runouts you will ever see in cricket history. Calling it a strange runout won’t be fair as it was an unlucky dismissal with him being only a centimeter apart from safety.
Gaikwad is leading Puneri Bappa franchise in the Maharastra Premier League. On Friday, Puneri faced Ratnagiri Jets to keep their knockout hopes alive and Gaikwad took it upon himself to do so.
Cricket Viral Video: Unluckiest Dismissal
Gaikwad was scoring freely and was looking in a great touch. He was all set to lead his side to a 180+ total. But fate had other ideas as Gaikwad walked back to the pavilion with his head bowed down in disbelief.
The incident happened in the 12th over when Gaikwad had already scored 28 runs in just 14 deliveries. It was a Gaikwad show and he was dictating the innings. He was playing according to the field and once again pushed a ball to the edge of a 30-yard circle for a quick double.
Considering the speed and fitness of Ruturaj, it was an easy double. And it was almost completed as well. But at the last moment, just a millimeter away from the crease, his bat struck in the ground.
His bat was stuck over the line and he was not able to drag it over the crease. The bat dropped from his hand and he was in the air as the keeper removed the bails and Gaikwad had to walk back.
Out Of The Tournament?
In the end, Puneri Bappa lost their 3rd match from the 4 they had played. It is heartbreaking because Gaikwad once again is the Orange Cap holder and has scored the most runs in the tournament.
But his team once again is on the verge of getting knocked out even after he gives his all. But this form of Gaikwad also raises a question about his exemption from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
